When Syfy canceled the TV series after three seasons, Amazon acquired it and began to stream it on Amazon Prime Video for an additional three seasons. The series was adapted for television by the Syfy Network, also under the title of The Expanse. The book series is made up of nine novels, nine shorter works and a story collection book. It later won, following its second nomination for the same award in 2020. The complete series was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Series in 2017. The first novel, Leviathan Wakes, was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2012. Corey, the joint pen name of authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. The Expanse is a series of science fiction novels (and related novellas and short stories) by James S. Ty Franck, one half of the writing duo that wrote the novels and also writes for the show, told us in a recent interview, “We’re not doing the last three books in six episodes. ![]() But with the ninth and final novel recently released, how can the show possibly wrap up the story in a way that will satisfy fans and resolve the issues brought about by the introduction of alien technology into the solar system? Season one followed Leviathan Wakes, season two followed Caliban’s War, and so on. Although The Expanse rearranged the order of some character introductions over the years, each season for the most part followed the conflict of each successive book in the James S.
